Opposition Spokesman on Industry, Investment, Commerce, Energy & Mining, Mr. Karl Samuda, is expressing regret and sadness at the passing of renown business leader, and President of the Jamaica Chamber of Commerce, Mr. Francis "Paco" Kennedy.
Mr. Samuda said: "I wish to extend condolences on behalf of the Opposition to Mr. Kennedy's family, colleagues and friends.  Mr. Kennedy's passing is a tremendous loss to the business community. He is someone I knew personally and had the pleasure of working with over the years.  He distinguished himself as a leader in the private sector and was a source of inspiration to many."

Mr. Samuda says Mr. Kennedy will be remembered for his work ethic, business acumen, warm personality, and extraordinary commitment to nation-building.

Samuda continued: "Francis Kennedy easily ranks among those Jamaicans who believe in this country and are prepared to go beyond the call of duty to overcome the challenges that confront our economy at this time.  As a respected leader in the private sector, "Paco" impacted many lives.  His sterling contribution to innovation and growth in the business community, as well as the hundreds of jobs he created both directly and indirectly, are most admirable and will be remembered for generations to come."
The Opposition Spokesman says it is most fitting that on Heroes' Day, the country got an opportunity to express gratitude and signal its appreciation for Mr. Kennedy's contribution over the years, by way of a national award.  Samuda went on to urge Jamaicans from all walks of life to be as bold and optimistic as "Paco" Kennedy was, and never doubt that we are capable as a nation of achieving great things.
