Opposition Spokesperson for Tourism and Cruise Shipping, Shahine Robinson, today congratulated Mr. Paul Pennicook on his appointment as Jamaica’s Director of Tourism.

In so doing, she noted that Mr. Pennicook served as Director of Tourism between 2003 and 2006 and has a long track record of leadership in the tourism industry.

Mrs. Robinson  urged Mr. Pennicook to “make it his mission to achieve buy in for the performance of his critical functions by regularly collaborating with tourism stakeholders.”

She also encouraged Mr. Pennicook to “build on the sterling work done by former Director of Tourism, John Lynch, and to push aggressively to increase the number of visitors to the island.”
Mrs. Robinson said this would be no easy task given the highly competitive nature of the world’s tourism industry and the several challenges locally, but stated that  Pennicook undoubtedly still has the skills required to achieve big things for the Jamaican tourism sector.
