The Parliamentary Opposition is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Mrs. Ethlyn Norton-Coke. As a highly qualified and experienced tax expert, chartered accountant and attorney-at-law, Jamaica benefited greatly from her wide and varied expertise.

“Mrs. Norton-Coke was the consummate professional, whose in-depth grasp and sharp and incisive assessments of financial issues, helped to shape the country’s financial and tax policies” the Opposition said.

The Opposition went on to describe Mrs. Norton-Coke as a nationalist, who was driven by a desire to serve her country and the less fortunate. She served on several boards of public and private sector entities, including: the National Solid Waste Management .Authority, University Hospital of the West Indies, Nuttall Memorial Hospital, Public Accountancy Board and Institute of Chartered Accountants of Jamaica. She was also a long-standing member of the Kiwanis Club of New Kingston.

Mrs. Norton-Coke’s death is a great loss for Jamaica; and she will be missed.
