
Prime Minister and Jamaica Labour Party Leader, Andrew Holness, says th e party is in mourning as it received today with deep sadness, word today that Labour and Social Security Minister and the Member of Parliament for North East St. Ann, the Honourable Shahine Robinson MP, passed.
The JLP Leader says he's lost a reliable personal friend and the JLP and the country have lost a stalwart who was careful to at all times put first the interest of her people. Prime Minister Holness says Mrs. Robinson's life and work are worthy of significant recognition and celebration.
The JLP Leader stated - "Shahine loved her country. She had options but she chose Jamaica. Shahine was also a dependable and passionate servant of the people of North East St. Ann."
Mr. Holness continued - "I had opportunity to visit Shahine earlier this week and to the very end her care and concern was for the well being of her people She'll be missed and her passing has left a void in the political sphere in this country which will be difficult to fill."
JLP Chairman, Robert Montague, is also noting with great sadness the passing of Mrs. Robinson. Mr. Montague said, "Shahine holds a special place in the hearts of the JLP family not only because of the special person she was but her victory in North Eaat St. Ann in 2001 was a decisive moral booster for the party which had spent many years in the political wilderness".
Mr. Montague stated "even amidst the pain which her loss has inevitably brought, there is much to smile about when we think about Shahine. Her cheerful demeanour, her reassuring smile, her warm embrace and her unending commitment to uplifting the lives of all including society's less fortunate".
Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) General Secretary, Dr. Horace Chang, is also paying tribute to Mrs. Robinson. Dr. Chang says "today is a day of immense sadness for the JLP and Jamaicans in general who've come to love and respect Shahine Robinson, she was true friend".
The JLP General Secretary said "Shahine may was a giant among here peers in terms of her strong connection with her constituents".
Dr. Chang says there's no doubt that the party and country have lost a champion who devoted a significant portion of her life to serving her nation and people and she did so with great distinction.
As we grieve along with the people of Jamaica for a true servant of the people, Prime Minister and Party Leader Andrew Holness, JLP Chairman Robert Montague and the officers and executives of the Jamaica Labour Party, extends heartfelt thoughts and prayers to Mrs. Robinson's family. May her soul Rest In Peace.
