Opposition Leader, Andrew Holness, has hailed the late retired principal of the Denham Town High School, Clover Thompson-Gordon, as a, "Champion educator and community-builder".

In expressing regret at news of her passing earlier this week, Mr. Holness says the Jamaica Labour Party joins the thousands of Jamaicans whose lives she positively impacted over the years. The Opposition Leader described Mrs. Thompson-Gordon as an unsung hero who led by example, gave sterling service to the education sector and distinguished herself as a role model in the community.

Mr. Holness said: “Clover was very dear to me.  She had an extraordinary capacity for inspiring and motivating those with whom she came in contact. One can hardly find a more personable, selfless and patriotic person than Mrs. Thompson-Gordon.  I draw many lessons from the life she led and her abiding belief in education as the principal vehicle to upward social mobility."

"Like the many students, parents and community stakeholders who benefited directly and indirectly from her service to Jamaica, I too am indebted to Mrs. Thompson-Gordon and my prayers go out to her family, colleagues and friends in this their time of bereavement,” Holness added.
