Prime Minister and Jamaica Labour Party Leader Andrew Holness, is urging Jamaicans to remain vigilant in the fight to contain the spread of Covid-19.
He says the virus remains a threat and every precaution should be taken to protect lives.
The Prime Minister, while addressing groups of people as he toured sections of Clarendon yesterday and North East St. Ann today, emphasized that Jamaicans must practice the recommended safety guidelines including the wearing of mask, sanitizing, practicing social distancing and staying home if will with flu-like symptoms or other respiratory illnesses.
Addressing a large group of Jamaica Labour Party supporters, the Prime Minister said, “We must set an example; we don’t want anyone to die because of politics.”
He said while Jamaicans are used to a campaign with large crowds and tight gatherings, this can no longer be the case in this new normal. As he distributed masks, he urged the crowd gathered to stand 6 feet apart from each other and wear their mask as instructed by health officials.
The Prime Minister was speaking at the Steer Town Community Centre, together with Marsha Smith, Attorney-at-Law, who is the Jamaica Labour Party’s stands bearer for the constituency of North East St Ann.
