Olivia ‘Babsy’ Grange, the Opposition spokesperson on youth, is today condemning the horrendous  killing of two children in Montego Bay whose bodies were found in a Trelawny pond this morning after having gone missing since Sunday.  Miss Grange who is recuperating from recent illness was moved by the details received so far about this episode and felt she needed to issue a statement, particularly against the background of recent reports of terrible incidents involving children.

Miss Grange has stated: I extend a heartfelt plea to my fellow Jamaicans for anyone who has any information no matter how small and seemingly unimportant, whatever you might remember or know, a cap a shirt a license plate number a type of phone, a bag, this is information which can guide the police to apprehend and bring to justice who ever committed this heinous act, please pass the information on.

She went on to observe: ‘Based on early reports, the lesson we must take from this really tragic event is that we have to be more neighbourly and observant as citizens in order to protect our children. Especially in the summer time when children gather to have fun together, we as responsible adults have to extend ourselves in order to show care, wherever we are, for our children. Maybe if someone had just intervened and asked the children who they were with or asked them who gave them permission to be there, just maybe this may not have happened.’

It is with deep sorrow that I extend condolences on behalf of myself, the JLP, and all well thinking Jamaicans to the families of these two children from Montego Bay,she concluded.
