Dante’s Inferno Engulfs the Hills of Eastern Jamaica!
Yallahs, St Thomas, Jamaica-James Robertson, Member of Parliament for Western St. Thomas is calling on Ministers, Ministries and Agencies who have responsibility for such matters to take immediate action for the “Dante’s Inferno” Fire that is presently engulfing the hills of Eastern St. Andrew to Western St Thomas.
Areas Being Seriously Affected
From the hills of Black Spur, to Mahogany Vale, to Hagley Gap to Epping Farm. Thousands of acres have been burnt. This comprises prime coffee land, cash crops and hundreds of Forestry Industry Development Company (FIDCO) trees planted from the 1970’s and 1980’s.
Financial Impact of Present Bush Fire
The present Inferno devastating the people, anecdotally, accounts for hundreds of millions of Jamaican dollars; far greater than what occurred recently in the hills of St. Andrew to date.
Socio Economic Impact on the People

· Hundreds of farmers in despair
· Member of Parliament, James Robertson said he was aware of 96 farmers in Richmond Gap waiting to receive assistance but that has been compounded with this fire, which is of far greater dimensions and scope.

In concluding, the Member Of Parliament for Western Thomas, James Robertson, urged the Media and Government Ministers to play their important role in assisting to bring needed emergency help to all those who have been devastated by this Inferno; from the hills of Eastern St. Andrew to Western St Thomas.
