I have been following recent developments, including the figures provided by the Jamaica Constabulary Force’s (JCF) periodic crime review reflecting a reduction in both murders and serious crimes for the past year, as well as the swagger with which the Minister of National Security has responded to them.
Opposition spokesman on national security, Derrick Smith, is urging the Minister of National Security to initiate an investigation into the treatment of the Jamaica Constabulary Force’s (JCF) acting commander for St. Thomas, Deputy Superintendent Charmin Shand, at the monthly meeting of the St. Thomas Parish Council on January 8, 2015.
Opposition Spokesperson on National Security Mr. Derrick Smith is alarmed at significant rise in murders for October, the highest in years and is calling of Minister Bunting to not squander the gains Jamaica has made.
According to Mr. Smith, “There could be more than 100 murders in October and that is the highest in several years. I don’t know if the minister is distracted but this needs serious attention”.
