Area Council Four Moves Resolution On Corruption Against Troupe – Sinclair

At a scheduled meeting of the JLP's Area Council Four held in the Flankers Community, over the weekend, Councillor Charles Sinclair moved a resolution calling for the removal of PNP Councillor Michael Troupe from his post as Deputy Mayor, on the grounds of suspected corruption. The resolution reads as follows: 

Whereas it has been reported in the national media that a letter was submitted to the United States Embassy purportedly signed by Deputy Mayor Michael Troupe
 
Whereas the said report informed the public that the letter was written on a letter head of the St James Parish Council
 
Whereas the said report further informed the public that the letter stated that one Chevanne Maxwell was employed to the St James Parish Council
 
Whereas the said Chevanne Maxwell is not and was never an employee of the St James Parish Council
 
Whereas there is an apparent fraudulent act having been perpetrated and which requires immediate and thorough investigation
 
BE IT RESOLVED that the Jamaica Labour Party councillor caucus and Area Council 4 do hereby make the following demands:
 
1. That councillor Michael Troupe forthwith resign the position of Deputy Chairman of the St James Parish Council
 
2. That councillor Michael Troupe forthwith relinquish the title of Deputy Mayor of the City of Montego Bay
 
3. That failing number 2, that the Minister of Local Government, the Honourable Noel Arscott remove the title of Deputy Mayor from councillor Michael Troupe
 
4. That the Mayor Glendon Harris immediately remove all bank and cheque signing duties and responsibilities designated to Councillor Michael Troupe
 
5. That the Mayor Glendon Harris as chairman of the St James Parish Council ensure that a thorough investigation be done into this matter by the relevant law enforcement agency and the Ministry of Local Government and the findings thereof be appropriately presented for public scrutiny
